A hopeful plan

The small group I’ll be traveling with to the DR includes a leader from the child sponsorship organization, a few members from my church and one of our pastors.

While our group's there we’re planning to visit a few community centers in the DR that are run by the child sponsorship organization. They’re located in the small villages where most of our church’s sponsored children reside. The sponsored children go to the centers to receive some of their schooling as well as their immunizations and some their provided supplies.

We’re hoping we’ll be able to have lunch at one of the community centers with the staff and possibly a few of the children too. We may even be able to visit a few of the homes of sponsored children.

If time allows we may be able to meet with village leaders to gain a better understanding of their people’s needs and how our church might be able to help them in the future with a mission trip back to the area.

I know that what you physically and mentally plan to accomplish on a trip and what actually comes to fruition hardly ever match up, but I’m hopeful all will work out. :)

There are only a few more weeks before we leave!!

That's great that your church is involved in sponsoring kids. It must be a lot of fun to sponsor as part of a group of people who you can meet with regularly. And getting to travel to meet the kids... that's exciting! I look forward to updates.
